French carmaker Renault topped the podium of car sales in Morocco with a market share of 42% in 2018, that is 75.418 cars.

A report by Renault said that Morocco remains the main market for the group where it has production plants in Tangier and Casablanca.

Last October, Renault said it will bring up its output in Morocco to 500,000 vehicles per year, including 340,000 manufactured at its Tangier plant.

Currently, about 10% of total cars sold by Renault in the globe are made in Morocco, where 73% of production is exported to 73 countries, notably in Europe and the MENA region.

The automotive sector in Morocco currently has a local integration rate of more than 50% and employs 85,000 people.
