Madrid – The visit of Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, slated Wednesday to Morocco, opens “great perspectives” for ties between the two countries, Moroccan Foreign Minister Saâd-Eddine El Othmani told Efe news agency.
This visit is an occasion for fostering bilateral relations in the economic, political and cultural fields, he said in a statement published on Tuesday by the Spanish agency.
The Moroccan official stressed the solid bond uniting the two countries, describing as “a good initiative” the choice of Morocco by Rajoy as the destination of his first official trip abroad.
He underlined the need to overlook differences and focus on other aspects of agreement in order to start an open and candid dialogue on the long term.
Morocco and Spain have two recently-elected governments which can start having a problem-free relationship. We can accomplish an excellent job in the future, he said, underlining that this visit is an occasion to make right past misunderstandings.
