New York – Rabbi Raphael Benchimol of the Manhattan Sephardic Congregation was decorated, on Sunday in New York, with the Wissam Al Arch of the Knight order, awarded by HM King Mohammed VI.
The royal decoration was handed to Rabbi Benchimol by Serge Berdugo, Ambassador-At-Large of HM King Mohammed VI during a ceremony attended by many figures including Morocco’s ambassador in Washington Rachad Bouhlal, Morocco’s consul general in New York Mohamed Karmoune and chairman of the American Sephardi Federation David Dangoor.
In a speech on this occasion, Ambassador-At-Large of HM the King highlighted the values of tolerance and coexistence which always prevailed in Morocco, underlining the attachment of Moroccan Jews to the Kingdom of Morocco.
