The fifth edition of the Salon du Cheval held in El Jadida, Morocco under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco from October 17 to 21, drew to an end yesterday. Throughout the five-day event, the Qatari pavilion captured the attention of all officials, professionals and the public. Increasing numbers of visitors made the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club (QREC) pavilion their main destination throughout the days of the event from 10 am to 6 pm.
Many heads of delegations and equestrian officials of the various countries participating in the Salon visited the Qatari pavilion amid very extensive media coverage. During the visits, ways to enhance co-operation between QREC and horseracing and equestrian organisations of other countries were discussed with a view to promoting the equestrian sport on national, regional and international levels. All officials and professionals highly praised the outstanding progress of Qatar’s equestrian and horseracing activities as clearly reflected in the world-class racing events run in Doha and the international accomplishments that have been realised in the recent years by organising the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in Paris every year and Qatar’s domination of the Arabian World Cup after securing the title of the Qatar Arabian World Cup, for the fourth time in a row, by MKEFFA, owned by HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Khalifa al-Thani, the Adviser to HH the Emir.
Commenting on the QREC participation in the Salon du Cheval, HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Faleh al-Thani, QREC Chairman, said “The Qatari participation in the Salon du Cheval is a success by all means. This is demonstrated through the large-scale media coverage of the Qatari participation and the fact that specialists from many countries have been keen to meet the Qatari delegation and exchange views and experience, which is a key goal behind participating in such overseas events and exhibitions. “
“No doubt this participation has been very productive and has added new echoes to the achievements of the Qatari sport in general and the Qatari equestrian sport in particular.” HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Faleh al-Thani, further, thanked the organisers of the Salon and the Moroccan equestrian officials, led by Prince Abdellah Alaoui, President of Salon du Cheval Association, for the excellent organisation of the Salon and the facilities provided to the QREC delegation, reflecting the close ties between Qatar and Morocco.
The success of the Qatari participation is best demonstrated by the huge turnaround of local people of all ages who always made the Qatari pavilion their main destination upon arriving at the Salon that the organisers were keen to have QREC pavilion at a strategic space in front of the main entrance of the Salon. The Qatari pavilion was always filled with school children, students, specialists and local families who showed high interest in learning about Qatar and its culture and heritage not only its equestrian sport.
