Vladimir Putin noted the importance of further UN-brokered collective efforts to reach fair, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to the Western Sahara problem.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and King Mohammed VI of Morocco agreed that the two countries are interested in expanding bilateral cooperation, the Kremlin press service said on Tuesday after a telephone conversation initiated by the Moroccan side.

“The two heads of state discussed in detail joint work on the implementation of the results of the March 2016 official visit to Russia by the Moroccan King. The sides stressed that both countries are interested in further expansion of bilateral cooperation in all areas,” the Kremlin press service said.

Putin and King Mohammed VI also discussed efforts to settle the situation around Western Sahara. “Vladimir Putin noted the importance of further United Nations-brokered collective efforts to reach fair, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution to the Western Sahara problem,” the press service said.
