Rabat – HM King Mohammed VI has ordered an investigation to be opened into fraudulent corruption and harassment behaviours of some members of security services on border posts, HM the King’s office said on Thursday in a statement.
The investigation, which was opened following complaints by some Moroccan expatriates who were ill-treated during their crossing of several border posts of the Kingdom, led to the arrest of several police, customs and Royal Gendarmerie elements.
The statement said that the persons concerned will be brought to justice, adding that HM the King will in person follow this issue, which stains the image of Morocco and Moroccans, in order to prevent a repeat of such acts.
It said that a working session was held in the Royal Palace of Casablanca. The session was presided over by HM the King and attended by Interior Minister, Economy and Finance Minister, lieutenant general commander of the Royal Gendarmerie, managing director of national police services, and managing director of customs and indirect taxes.
