Paraguay “fully supports Morocco’s territorial integrity” and its sovereignty over the Sahara, said on Thursday in New York the Foreign Minister of this Latin American country, Luis Alberto Castiglion.

“Paraguay supports Morocco and will continue to support it,” said Castiglioni in NY following his talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

“Relations between Asunción and Rabat are gaining momentum and we are working to make them even better,” said Paraguay’s top diplomat who is planning to visit the North African Kingdom.

“We will work to further strengthen our political relations and bolster our economic and trade ties,” he added.

Last May, Paraguay’s MPs unanimously adopted a resolution backing Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara, welcoming the “serious and credible” efforts made by Morocco in a bid to find a political solution to the long-lasting regional dispute affecting the Arab Maghreb Union.
