TAHOE, Calif. — Doug Stoup is a professional adventurer and has traveled to the North and South Poles more times than anyone on the planet (according to Stoup). He also guides skiers to remote places including Antarctica, Spitsbergen, Morocco and Greenland. Doug will attempt to circumnavigate Lake Tahoe on a Tahoe SUP on July 31 and hope to complete the circumnavigation in less than 24 hours.

The trip will begin and end at Waterman’s Landing in Carnelian Bay. Stoup is paddling to raise money and awareness for High Fives Foundation (www.highfivesfoundation.org) and the Ice Axe Foundation (www.iceaxe.org).

The Ice Axe Foundation is an educational 501 3C set up to educate youth about the amazing planet on which we live through live Internet feeds.

There will be a fundraising reception on Aug. 1, 3-7 p.m. at Waterman’s Landing with libations and live music from local singer songwriter and pro skier Matty Reardon.
