Rabat – Over four million tourists arrived in Morocco in the first five months of the year, up 9% with respect to the same period in 2017, the national observatory on tourism has said.
The number of foreign tourists rose by 15% while arrivals by Moroccans living abroad fell by 1%. Arrivals from Italy rose by 16%, also as a result of the increase in flight connections.
Arrivals from Germany rose by 12%, from France and the Netherlands by 8%, from the UK by 7% and from Spain by 4%. The majority of tourists went to Marrakech and Agadir, which registered 60% of total overnight stays.
However, arrivals in Fes grew by 17% and in Tangier by 8%.(ANSAmed)
