New Spanish king lines up Morocco trip

Prince Felipe, who is about to be proclaimed King of Spain will be visiting Morocco in the next few days, the Spanish Royal House’s spokesperson has confirmed.Morocco, France and Portugal are among the first countries Prince Felipe will be embarking on the trip after he is proclaimed monarch at a ceremony to be held in parliament, in the next few days, the spokesman said Thursday.

The itineraries of the royal trips between July and August will be set after the June 18, 2014 official crowning ceremony, the spokesman pointed out.

King Juan Carlos on Monday announced in a televised address that he was abdicating the throne, making way for his son Prince Felipe, who he said embodies “a new and younger generation.

The Prince of the Asturias has the required maturity, preparation and sense of responsibility to assume power, with all the guarantees and opens a new era of hope in which, he will have to combine acquired experience and the impulse of a new generation said King Juan Carlos who has ruled Spain for over 38 years.
