Rabat – The Head of Government Abdelilah Benkirane said, on Thursday in Rabat, that the new government’s foremost priority is to restore the citizens’ trust in the public authorities, foster the culture of dialogue among the various constituents of society and pay special attention to the vulnerable social segments.
In a press briefing following the government’s first meeting, Benkirane added that he understands social demands, stressing that public authorities need to pay attention to them.
On the presence of five members without political affiliation among the new cabinet, the head of government said it was they who proposed them in view of their competence.
Benkirane said the democratic process pursued by his party in particular in selecting those in line for a ministerial post resulted in only one woman being member of the government.
He also expressed satisfaction with the positive reactions expressed by big powers following the appointment of the new cabinet, especially the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Spain.
