Nouakchott – Sahrawi activist Mustafa Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud urged international organizations, mainly the UNHCR, to ensure the protection of Sahrawis held captive in the camps of Tindouf, on the Algerian territory, against the arbitrariness and abuse of the polisario leadership.

In a letter to the Robert-Kennedy foundation, Mustafa Salma said he made, through the said foundation, an urgent call on all international bodies, notably the UNHCR, to protect Sahrawis held against their will in these camps.

The polisario front, encouraged by the preliminary report of the Kennedy foundation, kidnaped and detained for two days Sahrawi artist Ennajem Ould Allal who was tortured and threatened by death if he does not leave the camps, Mustafa Salma said in the letter.

“Given this new information, we call upon you to urgently open an investigation on this incident which took place following your visit, to spare your organization the responsibility for the human rights abuses of somebody who is guilty only of expressing his views,” he concluded.
