The Moroccan city of Casablanca, as seen in the movies. – Morocco Forever

Rocklin High School’s annual Multicultural Week begins March 26th. The event takes place the entire week.

The club will hand out passports, which can be stamped with participation marks. The passports can then be turned into teachers for extra credit.

Each year, Multicultural Club chooses a specific country to celebrate. This year, they have chose to spotlight the Kingdom of Morocco.

Morocco is a North African county with a constitutional monarchy. Most citizens speak Arabic and practice Sunni Islam.

The country has been featured in movies like the Adventures of TinTin and Casablanca. Their culture as oft-highlighted in media is exotic and bright. The art often has geometric or floral repeated elements and warm colors.

The climate is Mediterranean and fertile, except for parts of the South where the Sahara Desert begins. There are many native animals and plants that are indigenous to the region.

The week will highlight these aspects of Morocco and more. Below is the scheduled events for each week, which can be found in most classrooms and on the kiosk.

Monday: Introduction day. Come pick up your passport in the amphitheatre!

Tuesday: Information Day. Come to the amphitheatre during lunch to learn something new.

Wednesday: Art Day. Art Club will be painting faces and hands in the amphitheatre with themes from Moroccan Culture.

Thursday: Movie Club will be hosting “Dreaming in Morocco” during lunch in the Tech Lecture Hall.

Friday: Culinary Club will provide exotic Moroccan food in the amphitheatre for the entire school to taste.

Don’t miss your chance to “take a trip” to the exotic Kingdom of Morocco.
