CASABLANCA, Morocco, Nov. 14 (UPI) — Thousands of Moroccan pro-democracy activists took to the streets in Casablanca, calling for a boycott of the country’s upcoming election, observers said.
The government has said it is working on reforms and will give more power to the elected Parliament, but activists Sunday contended Morocco’s king has not done enough and described the election as “a piece of theater.”
A Council of Europe parliamentary delegation said recently it was concerned about expected low turnout for the Nov. 25 vote, the Egyptian Web site Bikyamasr.com reported.
