Morocco’s Telecommunication giant Maroc Telecom (IAM), last Monday moved into its ‘Tour de Verre’ headquarter building in Rabat – the capital and second largest city – to unify its divisional operations under one roof.

A local press explained the unification of its operations was done to increase productivity and efficiency of the company’s sub business units (SBUs) as well as provide an improved work environment for its employees.

IAM has a staff base of over 11,000 employees, operating within 8 regional delegations and with more than 200 functioning offices located in every territory of Morocco.

The Headquarters is a 23 storey building that features the most modern technologies to proficiently manage electricity consumption, equipped with an improved water service system, security, a standard heating system and audio insulation.

Tour de Verre, reportedly costing $120 million, is tallest building in Rabat, boasting an accommodation capacity of over 800 employees.

The Casablanca Stock Exchange and Euronext Paris-listed firm is the daughter company of French mass media and telecommunication multinational Vivendi, which controls a 53 percent capital stake in Maroc Telecom.

Despite this positive development, the parent company is unwilling to continue its majority control of IAM. It recently announced plans to sell its stake in the Rabat Based firm, with UAE’s Etisalat reportedly the highest bidder.
