Morocco’s King Mohammed VI on Friday discussed with the chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission over the multiple challenges and development opportunities that Africa faces.

The king held talks with Moussa Faki Mahamat at the royal palace in Rabat, said a statement by the royal office.

The meeting tackled the challenges confronting the African continent, as well as opportunities to boost Africa’s economy, social development and political stability, the statement pointed out.

Mahamat highlighted the important contribution of Morocco, since its return last January to the Pan-African institutional organization, to promoting peace, stability and development on the continent, it noted.

The AU head also praised the king’s action in favor of South-South inter-African cooperation and his commitment as a leader on the issue of migration within the African Union.
