Morocco’s GDP growth reached 2.8 percent in the third quarter from 2.4 percent in the previous quarter, the official High Commission for Planning said on Sunday.

The commission said that this growth was mainly due to the rise in agricultural output by 3.1 percent.

Apart from the agriculture sector, which accounts for nearly 15 percent of the country’s economy, the non-agricultural sector grew 2.8 percent in the third quarter, the commission added.

As for the fourth quarter, the planning commission expected the kingdom’s GDP to grow by 2.6 percent.

Moroccan Central Bank said in Sept. in its latest statistics that Morocco’s economic growth will drop to 3.5 percent in 2018, down from 4.1 percent in 2017.

The central bank expects the trend to continue in 2019 with GDP growth down to 3.1 percent.
