Rabat  –  The national economy continues to be triggered by domestic demand in line with buoyant domestic value-added tax, the Economy and Finance Ministry said.

The increase in household consumption is largely ascribed to a 5.1% rise in remittances of Moroccans abroad by the end of April and a 13.2% increase in outstanding consumer credit as well as a slight 0.7% increase of consumer prices, the same source said.

Over the same period, revenues of value-added tax posted a 8% increase despite an accelerated repayment rate.

Investments followed a steadily growing trend following a 8.1% rise in imports of goods and industrial equipment, the same source said.
