Morocco’s CPI drops 0.8 pct in July

Morocco’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped by 0.8 percent in July from a month earlier, the High Commission for Planning (HCP) said Friday.

Food prices fell by 2 percent and non-food prices 0.1 percent in July month on month, according to a monthly report by HCP.

The decline mainly concern vegetables with 8.1 percent, fish and seafood with 4.3 percent, and fruit with 3.6 percent, the report noted.

According to a recent report of the central bank, the Moroccan inflation is expected to slow to 0.6 percent in 2019 from 1.9 percent last year, before picking up to 1.2 percent in 2020 as domestic demand improves. Enditem
