Morocco's constitutional council confirms referendum results over constitution

Rabat (MAP) – Constitutional council has announced, Saturday evening, that Moroccans approved the draft constitution in the referendum of July 1.

Mohamed Achergui, chairman of the council, said that 9,909,356 approved the new constitution, while 154,067 voted against it.

Achergui, who announced the referendum final results on Morocco’s TV channel “Al Oula”, said that the council issued its decision after thorough verification of the accuracy of all polling minutes in light of the provisions of law and control of the general breakdown of the votes cast.
