Rabat – Morocco expressed on Friday its indignation at the use by the Austrian far-right party (FPO) of an election poster offending the Moroccan community in Innsbruck.
“As a result of the use by the Austrian far-right party (Freedom Party of Austria, FPO) an election poster openly offending the Moroccan community in Innsbruck, Youssef Amrani, Minister Delegate to the Foreign Minister today summoned the Austrian ambassador in Rabat to express both the indignation of Morocco and its denunciation of this xenophobic and defamatory act against our fellow citizens living in this country member of the European Union and beyond, to the entire Moroccan people,” Foreign Ministry said in a statement .
On this occasion, the source added, the Minister Delegate requested that the Austrian authorities take appropriate measures to ensure, “as it should be, the protection of the Moroccan community living in Austria against all forms of stigmatization and racial behavior and this, in all circumstances”.
It should be recalled that the FPO has used for municipal elections to be held April 15 in Innsbruck, a poster with the slogan “Love for the homeland instead of Moroccan thieves”.
