RABAT, Feb 26 (KUNA) — The Kingdom of Morocco and the United States agreed Sunday to strengthen cooperation in all domains and coordination of political stances.

Addressing a joint press forum with visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton here, Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad-Eddine Al-Othmani said: “We have agreed to enhance the friendly exchanges between the businesspeople from both sides.” “The two countries enjoy strong ties that kept growing over the last years thanks to the signed deals on economic cooperation and trade liberalization,” Al-Othmani noted.

On her part, Clinton said she is concluding tonight a tour of the Arab Maghreb countries that started with Tunisia on Friday before proceeding to Algeria.

The United States will continue backing the efforts to reach a peaceful, permanent and mutually-acceptable solution to the dispute over the status of the Western Sahara, she said.

The US stance on the issue is the same, it supports the initiative of Moroccan King Mohammad VI for a Western Sahara autonomy under Moroccan rule, Clinton made clear.

She added that her country will continue backing the efforts, sponsored by the United Nations, to encourage all concerned parties to reach a viable and credible settlement to the dispute, praising the efforts made in this regard by UN envoy to Western Sahara Christopher W.S. Ross.
