Morocco aims to cap the budget deficit at 5 pct of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2012, a government minister said on Wednesday, after it surged last year to its highest level since the 1990s.

Minister Delegate in Charge of the Budget Idriss Azami al-Idrissi also told Reuters that the new Islamist-led government aims for a 4.2 percent economic growth this year, which is within a 4-5 percent range forecast by the central bank for 2011. – Reuters
