Morocco to take part in International Tourism Expo of Tel Aviv

Morocco will take part in the 27th international Mediterranean tourism market (IMTM-2021) due in Tel Aviv June 15-16. The move comes following the normalization of relations between the Kingdom and Israel.

According to a local Moroccan news outlet, the exhibition, the largest annual professional tourism fair of its kind in the Eastern Mediterranean, will bring together travel industry professionals from around the world including Morocco, Dubai, Uzbekistan, Slovenia, Portugal, the Philippines, Cyprus and the Czech Republic….

Moroccan Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui had lately a telephone conversation with her Israeli peer Orit Farkash-Hacohen on cooperation prospects between the two countries which agreed to set up regular direct air link.

The first flights between Casablanca and Tel Aviv are expected to start operating this summer. Several joint tourism projects are in the pipeline as up 70,000 Israeli tourists visit annually the Kingdom where many Jewish saints are buried.

Furthermore, over one million Jews of Moroccan origin live in Israel. The Moroccan tourism sector, which was hit hard by the travel restrictions imposed by the covid-19 pandemic, is looking for new markets to rebound.
