Morocco will host a meeting of global coalition against the Islamic States (IS) in the capital Rabat on Tuesday to discuss threats posed by the IS in Africa, foreign ministry said in a statement Sunday.
The meeting, the first of its kind in the context of coalition action, will gather member states of the coalition, as well as African countries and relevant regional and international organizations.
The meeting aims to review the development of the IS threat in Africa and discuss its local manifestations, the statement noted.
It will also explore possible ways of cooperating and strengthening synergies between various stakeholders to cope with them, the statement said.
The meeting also provides a detailed discussion of the latest developments in the Middle East and other regions, it added.
Formed in September 2014, the coalition gathers 75 countries and aims to degrade and ultimately defeat the IS.
