The first chamber of the Moroccan parliament on Tuesday (April 2nd) passed a draft law that criminalises terrorism financing and money laundering, Aufait Maroc reported.

“We passed this draft to comply with the requirements of the Financial Action Task Force, which considers the financing of terrorism as an act of terrorism,” Justice and Development Party (PJD) deputy Mohammed Ben Abdessadeq said.

The law would make it a criminal offence to provide funds to a terrorist or terror organisation. It would also treat the financing of terrorism as a crime, even if acts are perpetrated outside Morocco.
