Morocco Strongly Condemns Attack Against Its Consular Office In Palma De Mallorca

Rabat – The Moroccan government strongly condemned, on Saturday, the attack against the Kingdom’s consular office in Palma de Mallorca in Spain and called for launching a probe into this aggression.

On Friday, about twenty polisario proponents assaulted the consular office of Morocco in Palma de Mallorca causing considerable material damage.

The assailants smashed the main gate and broke into the office where they chanted pro-separatists slogans.

Morocco’s Foreign Ministry condemned in the strongest terms this aggression in a statement on Saturday. “This abject act, perpetrated by a group of separatists backed by Spaniards has terrorized the employees and those present in the consular office.”

“While thanking local authorities for their prompt and efficient intervention and for their protection of Morocco’s consular office, Morocco calls for opening a probe into this attack and bringing the perpetrators before justice.”

Morocco also called for all necessary measures to be taken to ensure the security of its diplomatic and consular offices in Spain in accordance with international agreements with a view to avoid the recurrence of such irresponsible acts, the statement added.
