Rabat – The final declaration of the Moroccan-Spanish parliamentary forum, held Wednesday in Rabat, has hailed the social, political and economic reforms undertaken in Morocco, and which were crowned by the adoption of a new Constitution, giving a new breath to the construction of democracy in the north African country.
The document underlined the important role of the legislative bodies in bringing closer Morocco and Spain and reinforcing the climate of trust, dialogue, coordination and partnership, stressing that maintaining peace and security in the Mediterranean must be a priority and a booster of investment and technology sharing.
On the thorny issue of illegal migration, the final declaration stressed that fighting this phenomenon can only succeed through adopting joint policies in security measures, border control and sustainable development.
The document urged the political powers in the two countries to back initiatives aimed at reinforcing the friendship and cooperation ties, especially by bringing about the needed conditions to bolster exchanges and investments in both countries, while reinforcing the position of Spain as the prime economic and cultural partner of Morocco.
