The Moroccan security services seized a record of 1.35 million psychotropic pills in 2018, the Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a parliamentary session on the spread of psychotropic pills, Laftit noted that ecstasy pills represented the vast majority of the seized psychotropic pills with over 1 million pills, an increase of 44 percent compared with 2017.
He stressed that the authorities decided to control the spread of the pills through tightening borders control and prosecuting major drug traffickers.
He said that some 3,500 people were brought to justice in 2018 for their suspected links to the trafficking networks of psychotropic pills.
