More than 3.57 million tourists visited Morocco between January and May, reflecting an increase of 9 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to latest estimates released by government departments.
Further, Morocco’s Exchange Office in statistics released to the Ministry of Tourism revealed that revenues from foreign tourists rose by 2 to 3 per cent, reaching MD21.7 billion ($2.58 billion) compared to MD 21 billion during the same period last year.
On the same note, Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, one of the leading tourism destinations in North Africa region based in Morocco, also registered dramatic increase in number of visitors during Ramadan, mainly from the Gulf region.
The resort said that Gulf families commanded a significant share of occupancy, following the signing of MoUs with leading Gulf airlines offering air miles and other rewards.
Stephan Killinger, president, Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, said the increase during summer and Ramadan was extraordinary, as a result of more competitive packages for the Gulf region.
Killinger added that summer offers which will continue until the end of September include one free night on a four-night package and two free nights on a five-night package, starting from USD 110 per person. The package includes accommodation for two adults and two kids, complimentary breakfast for two adults and two kids, free meals for kids, free access to three kids’ clubs, free access to Hammam steam room, tennis, fitness & biking, and complimentary airport shuttle service.
“We are collaborating with 8 airline service providers to reward our visitors on every mile they cross to reach us. Our occupancy rates are on the rise and we anticipate further growth until the end of the summer season and beyond. Arab tourists, particularly from the Gulf region, are registering high footfall compared to other high turnover visitors from traditional markets such as France, Spain, Germany and the UK,” Killinger added.
