Masen, the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, has launched the call for pre-qualification as part of a tender for the construction of a 400-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park.
The agency issued a call for expressions of interest (EoIs) last week, giving interested developers time until February 28 to submit their bids.
The tendered capacity concerns the first phase of the so-called Noor PV II project, which will see the construction of PV plants across several different locations in the country. The nine locations, according to economic news service Econostrum, will be Boujdour 2, Laayoune 2, Taroudant, Kelaa des Sraghna, Sidi Bennour, Bejaad, Lhajeb, Guercif and Ain Beni Mathar. Masen will provide the interconnection infrastructure for the projects.
Morocco aims to lift the share of renewables in its installed power mix to 42% by 2020 and to 52% by 2030. Last summer, Masen opened a tender for the 230-MW Noor Midelt II solar power plant project in the Atlas mountains.
