RABAT, April 6 (KUNA) — Morocco Tuesday termed as “absolutely unacceptable” the Tuareq rebels’ unilateral independence of northern Mali.

The Tuareq MNLA’s self-declared independence of the “Azwad” province is “absolutely unacceptable” because of its “dangerous consequences on peace, security and stability of the entire region,” Moroccan minister of foreign affairs Saad Al-Din Al-Othmani was quoted by the official news agency as saying.

“All countries should shoulder their responsibilities to addressing this issue,” he said.

Al-Othmani said Morocco has sent humanitarian aid for the Malian refugees in Mauritanian, and would be sending relief supplies for Malian refugees in Niger and Burkina Faso.

He called anew for restoration of constitutional institutions in Mali and safety of the African country’s territorial integrity. (end) adt.bs KUNA 062242 Apr 12NNNN
