Tripoli – Interior Minister Mohand Laenser expressed on Sunday in Tripoli Morocco’s willingness to support Libya in all fields.
“Morocco is looking forward to usher a new era of cooperation with Libya, both at the bilateral level and within the framework of the strategic choice of the Maghreban Union,” Laenser said during talks with his Libyan counterpart Faouzi Abdelaal.
Recalling the longstanding ties between the Libyan and Moroccan peoples, Laenser voiced full support for the efforts led by authorities in Libya to establish a modern state.
Laenser, who is in Libya to take part at the regional ministerial conference on border security, welcomed the holding of such an event in Tripoli.
For his part, Libya’s Interior Minister highlighted the promising prospects for cooperation with Morocco, adding that the Kingdom has considerable experience and expertise that can benefit his country, nitably in the areas of economy and security.
Laenser arrived in Tripoli on Saturday accompanied by Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in Charge of National Defense Administration and a large Moroccan delegation.
The regional ministerial conference on border security, whose works opened on Sunday aims to examine security arrangements for common borders, as dilemmas of smuggling and human trafficking remain unresolved since the collapse of Muammar Gaddafi regime.
The conference is attended by Ministers as well as senior officials of the defence and interior ministries of Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Niger, Mali, Mauritania and Sudan, along with security experts from each country
