Morocco has held a workshop on the national implementation of the Rotterdam Convention to train national stakeholders on the key obligations of the Convention and to identify elements of a national strategy for implementation. At the workshop, 33 participants contributed toward the formulation of the national action plan, which included preparation of an executive summary and a matrix to identify priorities, actions, responsibilities and timeframes. The workshop was held in Rabat from 28 May to 1 June 2012.
The secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention has also announced that the bureau meeting of the sixth conference of the parties (COP-6) will be held from 13 to 14 September 2012 in Rome, to review progress in the implementation of decisions and discuss the preparation of the upcoming ordinary and extraordinary meetings.
