Home grown solutions are easing the burden and heartache of some migrants in Africa.And Morocco is one of the main champions of this. The north African nation has become home to a number of refugees instead of its earlier stopover status on their way to Europe.
According to the United Nations refugee agency, there are more than 4,200 refugees in Morocco, two thirds from Syria and the rest from Sub-Saharan Africa.
17-year-old Ketsia from Kinshasa left her country, the D.R. Congo in May 2013 arriving Morocco 3 months later.
She now lives in Rabat in an accommodation provided by the UNHCR and receives a small stipend each month, while waiting to be enrolled in a local public school.
