Doha – Communication Minister and spokesman of the government, Mustapha El Khalfi, protested to Qatar’s authorities over the severance of the Sahara from the Moroccan map during the presentation of the countries taking part in the 12th Doha International Forum.

In a statement to MAP, El Khalfi said he was “astonished to see that the southern provinces were cut off from the Moroccan map during the presentation of the participants in the Forum. Following this misstep which undermines a brotherly Arab country, the minister said that he officially protested to Qatar’s top authorities.

“The Qatari authorities offered immediately their apologies for this mistake and held the event organizers, a foreign company, responsible,” he added.

The minister is leading an important delegation to the event, including Rabat’s Mayor Fathallah Oualalou and head of Casablanca’s stock market Karim Hajji.
