Washington – Morocco moved, for the first time, into the “Top Five Arab Markets” for the U.S. market, with U.S. goods imports totaling over $2.86 billion in 2011, a 47% increase over 2010, the National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) said.
It added that the top three sectors were petroleum and coal products with $689 million, food and kindred products ($653 million), and transportation equipment ($499 million).
The Kingdom ranks fourth among Arab states as a destination market for the U.S. exports in 2011, behind the United Arab Emirates ($15.89 billion), Saudi Arabia ($13.82 billion) and Egypt ($6.18 billion).
Overall, U.S. exports to 22 Arab countries in the MENA region rose more than 15% in 2011, with a total of $56.18 billion, compared to $48.77 billion in 2010.
