RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Morocco’s sports minister says two star runners suspended from the Olympics for doping might be taken to court.
Mohamed Ouzzine told The Associated Press by phone from London on Thursday that “we are going to examine all the files and we’ll see according to each case.” Ouzzine says athletes must be held accountable for their actions.
The suspensions this week by track and field’s governing body left the Moroccan Olympic team without Mariem Alaoui Selsouli and Abderrahim Goumri.
Selsouli, a 1,500-meter runner, was suspended Wednesday after testing positive for a diuretic. She waved her right to the ‘B’ sample test. Goumri, a marathoner, was among six caught in biological passport tests.
