Morocco Mall, located in Moroccan economic hub Casablanca, inaugurated on Thursday the shopping festival with Chinese theme, attracting thousands of people.
Morocco Mall is one of the largest shopping centres in the country.
At the opening ceremony, martial arts performance presented by Shaolin monks, and the face-changing and fire-breathing performances brought by Chinese Sichuan opera performers won applause and cheers of thousands of spectators.
Nicolas Dubreuil, general manager of Morocco Mall, told Xinhua that the Chinese theme shopping festival will last until mid-August, during which the mall will host performances with Chinese characteristics every day.
Dubreuil said that China’s influence is getting bigger and bigger, and Chinese culture becomes attractive to the Moroccan people.
Therefore, the shopping center decided to hold the shopping festival this year, the manager said, adding that he believes that this summer, Chinese elements will bring more popularity to the mall.
In order to highlight the Chinese theme atmosphere, a large dragon sculpture was specially placed at the main entrance of the shopping center.
The interior of the shopping center was also decorated with pagodas and lanterns.
The mall has set up 20 Chinese product booths, displaying bamboo flutes, Chinese fans, scarves and other handicrafts with rich Chinese characteristics.
In addition, the third floor of the shopping center also has a Chinese theme photo exhibition.
