Morocco, Luxembourg Have Excellent Relations, FM

Rabat – Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani described, Thursday in Rabat, as “excellent” the relations between Morocco and Luxembourg.

At a joint press conference with Vice-Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn, El Otmani stressed that Morocco and Luxembourg have permanent political consultations, affirming that the two countries wish to multiply visits and foster economic and trade relations.

Both countries aspire to improve their relations at the economic and commercial levels, through strengthening consultations and exchanging visits between businessmen and chambers of commerce of both countries, he said, noting that several companies from Luxembourg have gained a foothold in Morocco.

He also welcomed the significant support of Luxembourg for the candidacy of Morocco to the position of a UNSC non-permanent member state, stressing that the Kingdom will support Luxembourg’s candidacy for the same position during the next session.

Asselborn stressed the good relations existing between his country and the Kingdom of Morocco in various fields, noting in this regard “the regular weekly flights between the two countries” and their “cooperation in the field of higher education “, in addition to the European-Moroccan cooperation in the field of agriculture, especially within the framework of the advanced status granted to Morocco by the EU.

He has also indicated he had discussed with his Moroccan counterpart various international issues, including the situation in Syria, stressing in this regard the convergence of viewpoints on the need to avoid military intervention in that country.
