Morocco’s electricity and water utility company ONEE has invited pre-qualification bids for a total of 200 MW, divided into two separate lots of photovoltaic (PV) projects.
Noor Atlas, as the tender is named, is the second phase of ONEE’s programme, focused on assuring electricity supply for regions “at the end of the line” or regions powered by 60 kV lines and sited at a long distance from transformation posts. It will comprise a total of 7 solar power projects of 20 to 30 MW each, distributed into two lots.
The first lot seeks bids for projects in Ain Beni Mathar, Bouanane, Boudnib, Boulmane (Enjil) et Outat El Haj in the eastern part of the country.
The second lot invites bid for projects in Tata and Tan Tan in the southern part of the country.
Bidders should submit their offers to ONEE by February 12, 2019.
Noor Atlas will be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and German KfW bank as well as by the European Commission.
According to information published by Moroccan daily Le Matin in mid-December last year, ONEE has agreed a EUR 129 million (USD 138.2m) loan with EIB and a EUR 130 million loan with KfW.
The total investment for Noor Atlas has been estimated at EUR 272 million.
