The head of the Moroccan government, Abdelillah Benkirane on Tuesday kicked off the implementation of a national strategy against corruption. Under the theme “Contractualisation” “operationalization”, the strategy to span over ten years will require a total investment of DH1.8 billion with the realization of ten programs and 239 challenging projects as effective mechanism.
To fight this pernicious scourge that causes enormous damage to the national economy, the government hopes to improve by 2025, Morocco’s position on the anti-corruption index by reducing its ranking to 60 out of 100 instead of the current 39 out of 100.
The ten orientations of the government’s program cover among other the improvement of services to citizens, strengthening e-government, popularization of ethics and transparency, end of impunity with a greater role of justice, efficiency of the private sector.
The plan is also based on improving the school curriculum.
As part of monitoring this strategy, the government announced the creation of an Interministerial Commission to fight against corruption under the chairmanship of the head of the government.
The commission shall prepare periodic reports on the strategy whose implementation will span from 2016 to 2025.
