Morocco, Kuwait seek closer economic ties – official

A Moroccan official said on Monday his country and Kuwait were willing to further deepen and cement bilateral relations in various domains, primarily economy and trade.
The remark was made by the undersecretary of the Moroccan Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Technology’s trade sector Al-Eid Mahsousi during the preparatory meeting of the Moroccan-Kuwaiti Joint Committee.
The joint committee will convene here on Tuesday under the joint chairmanship of the Kuwaiti and Moroccan ministers of commerce and industry.
Mahsousi called for stepping up efforts to push the influx of mutual investments between Morocco and Kuwait in a bid to contribute to alleviating the reflections of the global financial crisis.
The Moroccan official highly acclaimed the role played by Kuwait in the provision of material support to economic and social development projects in Morocco, saying the aspired partnership between Morocco and the GCC member countries would surely lead to swiftly closer cooperation between Kuwait and Morocco.
Mahsousi underlined the significance of establishing inter-Arab economic integration for the common interest of the Arab people.
The preparatory meeting was jointly presided over by Assistant Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Foreign Trade Sheikh Nemer Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and Mahsousi.
