HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s ruler, announced a budget of US$150 million for two new structural projects aimed at developing the logistics industry in Casablanca, the allafrica website reported today.

The money has been allocated for a road to link the port of Casablanca to the logistic activities zone in Zenata (Mohammedia), and for the development of a logistics zone.

The logistics zone called MITA-Casablanca will be carried out in three phases with a budget of $71 million. It will be built on 32 hectares of land and provide warehouses that meet international standards.

The structural projects are part of a national strategy by the country to develop logistics competitiveness, increase the economy’s growth from 3 to 5 points of GDP by 2015 and generate 36,000 jobs by 2015 and a further 96,000 jobs by 2030, the website reported.
