RABAT, Morocco — Moroccan security forces say they have dismantled two terrorist cells in the country’s northern Mediterranean port of Nador.

An Interior Ministry statement said the groups in Nador had links with a network of radicals in northern Mali that specialized in recruiting volunteers for jihad in Africa’s Sahel region. It said the Mali group was dismantled in November.

Al-Qaida-linked groups that controlled northern Mali have been dispersed by a French-led military intervention which started Jan. 11.

Sunday night’s statement didn’t say how many people were arrested from the two cells, which the ministry said stole in the name of jihad.

Another terror cell accused of recruiting Moroccans was dismantled in January.
