On the political side, the US is waiting expectantly to see if promised political reforms in Morocco and Algeria are put in place, a top American diplomat said Thursday. Speaking in Algiers, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for North Africa Robert Maxwell praised the two nations for moving forward after the revolutions in the Arab world at the start of this year.

On the economic side, Morocco’s unemployment rate inched up 9.1 percent in the third quarter, clocking the second increase in a row due mostly to a drop in construction activity, official data showed.
