Tokyo – Morocco is a hot destination for Japanese investments, Japanese Minister of Economy, Commerce and Industry Yukio Edano said on Tuesday in Tokyo.

“Morocco is a stable country both economically and politically which makes it a hot destination for Japanese investments,” he told MAP following a meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani who is on a three-day official visit to Japan.

Edano called on Japanese and Moroccan businessmen to further their communication to facilitate the exchange of experiences.

He said Japanese businesses are interested in Morocco’s photovoltaic project “a field in which Japan is known for its high-tech.”

El Otmani highlighted Morocco’s economic assets notably its geographic position, free trade agreements, skilled labor, infrastructure and political stability.

He said that the talks turned on means and ways to foster economic bonds, mainly in the field of renewable energy, adding that the Moroccan government is keen to support Japanese businesses wishing to gain a foothold in the Kingdom.
