Kenitra — HM King Mohammed VI launched, on Saturday in Kenitra, the Attayssir operation to build 8,629 social houses worth 950 million dirhams.

The project, which is part of the national social housing programme “250,000 dirhams per unit”, reflects HM the King’s constant solicitude for the middle class and limited-income households to enable them to access decent accommodation at advantageous conditions.

It is bound to give a strong impetus to the fight against slums and contribute to diversifying the housing supply and to the emergence of new urban centres in the province.

Benefiting more than 43,100 people, this integrated project also includes building commercial buildings, seven schools, a health centre, a mosque, two women’s centers, a sports complex, a youth center and various community facilities.

The Attayssir operation is one of six social housing projects to be approved at the level of the province of Kenitra, totaling some 15,725 houses.

Besides this operation, four of the six projects approved had been launched, with a fifth already completed.

The 2.2 billion dirham six projects, which will benefit more than 78,000 people, will contribute to absorbing housing shortage in the province, in addition to supporting the urban, demographic and economic dynamics in the city.
