French President François Hollande phoned King Mohammed VI of Morocco on February 24th to reiterate the two countries’ friendship.

Relations between Morocco and France have become clouded in recent days following legal action taken against Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) chief Abdellatif Hammouchi.

In response to the French president’s gesture, the King’s office issued a statement saying: “The two heads of state have agreed to continue contact… in the spirit of the special relationship between Morocco and France.”
