The Moroccan government expressed Thursday “deep concerns” over the course of action following a failed coup against the government in Turkey, an official statement said.
In a statement following a cabinet meeting, Moroccan government said while the kingdom was among the first nations to denounce the attempted coup, it is very concerned about the large scale arrests of teachers and judges in Turkey.
Morocco called for protecting the constitutional order and institutional legitimacy and preserving unity and social cohesion in this brotherly Muslim country, the statement said.
Since the coup failed on last Saturday, over 9,000 people have been arrested facing court decisions, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who declared state of emergency for three months on Wednesday.
